PELUM Zambia secretariat is supported by a highly qualified and motivated staff which drives the organisation to achieving its objectives. PELUM prioritises staff development and therefore continuously strengthens their capacities.
Muketoi Wamunyima – Country Co-ordinator
Mr. M. Wamunyima has over 10 years from the public sector, having worked at middle and senior management levels, designing and implementing policies in the Land and agriculture sector, youth and child development, as well as in the water sector. He joined PELUM Association as a Projects Manager before taking up the role of Country Coordinator. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree, having majored in Sociology and a minor in Development Studies, and a Master of Business Administration. He has experience in research methodologies, policy analysis, strategic planning and organisational development skills.
Etinala Tembo – Assistant Programmes Officer
Ms Tembo has over 12 years work experience in NGO work. She has worked at Community level as Community Development Facilitator in primary health care and sanitation; food security and income generation; sponsorship and capacity building; early childhood care and development; and community mobilization.
Ms Tembo has been trained in research ethics, project planning and management, presentation skills, peer education, AIDS competence and gender awareness.
Miga Wilfred-Programmes Officer
A self-motivated professional in agriculture, long time experienced community worker with passion on community development, value addition, Permaculture and organic farming, horticulture crop production, agri-business, disaster risk management, and animal production. Has worked for a regional network for 6 years coordinating multi-country projects in sustainable livelihoods techniques such as organic conservation agriculture and agro ecology. Have competent skills in team building and leadership, training and facilitation and have enormous knowledge on herb propagation and processing, Agro forestry, Bee keeping, animal integration and Organic agriculture. Combine knowledge in project planning, implementation and management, research and conducting baseline surveys, participatory monitoring and evaluation.
Personal experiences in the areas of organic agriculture, Wilfred Miga was in the initial team that developed and participated in the Ecological Organic Agriculture initiative in Africa (EOA) that was held in Kenya were the project started. Was involved in setting up Organic Processers and producers Association in Zambia (OPPAZ), nominated to be part of the Ecumenical working group on Agro ecology member coordinated by Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance (2012), presented a paper during the world food security conference in Locum, Germany titled; Post harvest losses and handling in Zambia and Southern Africa. (2012), trained 20 lead farmers on organic conservation agriculture and water management in Tanzania, Karagwe area for CHEMA organization (2010),trained Trainer of trainers on organic Conservation agriculture and Ecological land use in Uganda, Mityana district at RUCID (2011) and trained lead farmers in conservation organic agriculture and ecological agriculture in Rwanda for PELUM Rwanda (2011). Wilfred Miga was also part of a team that developed manuals on Organic Soil fertility management; Small livestock production; Integrated pest management; and Bee keeping for Fambidzanai Permaculture center in Zimbabwe and was part of the designing of syllabus and curricular for Permaculture course and Urban agriculture.
Wilfred Miga holds a Bsc in Agriculture, Post Graduate Diploma in project planning and management, Diploma in Education specializing in Agriculture and a Certificate in General Agriculture. He also has a Permaculture design Course Certificate and Organic Nutrition gardening course certificate. Wilfred Miga also has a MSC Sustainable Land and Environment management, University of Zambia.
Rabecca Mwila-Communications Officer
Rabecca is the Communications Officer. She pursued and successfully completed her Degree in International Relations and Development from Mulungushi University and a Diploma in Journalism and Public Relations from Evelyn Hone College in 2016 and 2002, respectively.
Her work experience spans from the newsroom as a reporter to communications officer in various organisations including Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS), Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ), PANEX and Dairy Association of Zambia.
Among her responsibilities was dissemination of news and success stories to the public through various platforms including radio, television, news releases, newspapers, newsletters, brochures, social media and the website. She was also responsible for creating content for the various audiences and uploading it on the social media platforms.
In addition, she was responsible for organising events such as media briefings, donor coordination and commemorations.
Born on the Copperbelt Province of Zambia, Rabecca’s motivation to work is driven by her desire to have informed communities in the country and the world over. She currently resides in Lusaka.
